Accepted Answer

When our providers are in network with an insurance company, we use discounted fees for those patients.  These fees are dictated to us by the insurance company. Therefore, the patient will get a discount on the dental work.  In plain words, a patient will pay less out of pocket if they see an in network provider.

What is the difference between a provider accepting insurance and being an "in network" provider.

Accepted Answer

When our providers accept an insurance plan, this simply means the insurance company will pay something toward your dental treatment with us.  When our providers are in network, we use discounted fees so the patient is ALSO getting a discount.    You will pay less out of pocket when you see an "in network" provider.

If the Lamendola Providers are not in my network, how much more would I have to pay compared to seeing an "in network" dentist?

Accepted Answer

While we can accept and file claims for most "out of network" PPO's, we do not know what they will pay toward treatments.    An "out of network patient" should know that they could receive a bill or a credit check after the claim is paid.   For preventive treatments like cleanings and check ups, we may be able to give you an idea of what payments we have seen in the past from that company.   For larger treatments we recommend that you allow us to get a preauthorization prior to treatment.  A preauthorization is a letter from your insurance company saying how much they intend to pay on a specific treatment on a specific patient.  If you want a preauthorization, please let us know when your treatment plan is presented to you. While we are happy to see our out of network patients, it is important to understand that you are getting the best deal (paying the least) when you see a provider IN YOUR NETWORK.
